ASSISI-ROME: THE ROUTE OF WATER
It is March 13, 2015 when Pope Francis announces the Extraordinary Jubilee.
Pope Francis, Rome, Francis, Assisi... the idea of a "Via dell'Acqua" takes shape, retracing the Tiber that characterizes the route that unwinds between Lazio and Umbria running along the banks of the waterways.
An easy "Via", accessible to cyclists of all levels, on a mountain bike but also with a robust hybrid bike, with a truly minimal difference in altitude and which connects two fantastic cities such as Assisi and Rome.
The project takes shape on a total route of 250 km, of which 160 km run in the Umbrian territory, of which 120 km on already completed cycle paths.
Then, through a great deal of research and union of mostly dirt roads, found by chance, on the internet or suggested by friends, the Lazio section was also defined by connecting the Valle Spoletana with the Valnerina and with the Tiber Valley.
