Walking south of Gamla Stan you will find the Kungliga Slottet, the Royal Palace: one of the largest Renaissance buildings in the world, with over 600 rooms and five museums inside. Built on the site where the Tre Kronor (“Three Crowns”) castle was destroyed by fire at the end of the 1600s, the Palace was built in the 18th century in Italian Baroque style. Every day you can watch the characteristic changing of the guard.
